Air Force Rifle Finishes Fourth in PRC

U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. - The Patriot Rifle Conference Championships concluded at the Air Force Academy Cadet Rifle Range this past weekend, Feb. 7-8, with the Air Force rifle team finishing in fourth place. The Academy held the PRC Smallbore Championships on Saturday with #6 Air Force, #2 Alaska, #3 TCU, #9 Ohio State, Nevada, and UTEP. The PRCs concluded on Sunday with the Air Rifle Championships. It was the second year for the PRC Championships.
Ryan Jacobs was the Falcons' top shooter in the smallbore with a 577. Tyler Rico scored a 575 in the gun, followed by Meredith Carpentier with a 573. Spencer Brandon scored a 566 with David Higgins rounding out the five-member squad with 563 points. The smallbore squad's top-five scores were tallied together to give the Falcons 2291 points in the smallbore.
In the air rifle, Rico had the Falcons' top score with 594 points. Carpentier scored a 591, followed by Kevyn Stinett with 588 points. Jacobs pulled out a 583 and Higgins had a 575 in the gun. The squad's score was 2356.
TCU's Mindy Miles scored a perfect 600 in the air rifle to claim PRC All-Conference honors. Rico also claimed All-Conference honors in air rifle, as did Carpentier.
Alaska won the PRC Conference Championships with 4680 points, TCU took second place with 4665 points, and Ohio State followed with 4655 points and Air Force with 4647 points. Nevada finished with a 4596 and UTEP had a 4558.
Air Force will host the NCAA Qualifier Match against TCU on Feb. 21.
