
Two Falcons land on preseason all-Mountain West football team

LAS VEGAS, Nev.. - Senior defensive lineman Alex Hansen and junior defensive back Weston Steelhammer were named to the 2015 preseason All-Mountain West football team, as announced today at the league's annual Media Day in Las Vegas, Nev. The team was selected by members of the league's media.
Steelhammer, a first-team all-conference selection last season, led the Falcons with six interceptions in 2014. He ranked fourth in the conference and 13th in the nation with 0.46 interceptions per game. A member of the 2015 Jim Thorpe Watch List, his six interceptions ranked as the fifth most in a season in school history and are the most since Anthony Wright had seven in 2009. He was fourth on the team in total tackles with 61 and also had 6.0 tackles for loss for 19 yards, 3.0 sacks for 16 yards and recovered two fumbles.
Hansen, a second-team all-conference selection in 2014, led all Falcon defensive linemen with 56 total tackles, including 23 unassisted, last season. He was fifth overall on the team in tackles, third in tackles for loss (10.0) and sacks (3.5). He had a streak of 10 straight games with at least one tackle for loss during the season and is the Falcons' active career leader in tackles for loss (21.0) and sacks (7.5).
In the conference preseason poll, voted on by the league's media, Air Force was picked to finish fourth in the Mountain Division. Boise State was picked to win the Mountain Division, followed by Utah State in second and Colorado State in third. Wyoming was picked fifth and New Mexico was sixth. San Diego state was picked to win the West Division.
