Air Force Men Take Second at Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Backed by five scoring runners within the top-13 of the Division I field, the Air Force men's cross country team finished second at the 26th-annual Woody Greeno Invitational this morning (Sept. 19) at Pioneer Park in Lincoln.
Finishing fifth among Division I runners and 10th in the overall field of 233, sophomore Andrew Milliron paced Air Force in the 8K race with a career-best time of 25:52.5. Freshmen Mickey Davey and Trevor Siniscalchi placed seventh (25:58.0) and 10th (26:01.8), respectively, while senior Grant Caswell (11th, 26:01.9) and junior Ryan Graf (13th, 26:07.7) rounded out the Falcons' scoring finishers.
Host Nebraska won the DI title with 16 points, while Air Force finished second with 46. The Huskers and Falcons distanced themselves from the rest of the field, as Northern Iowa finished third with 102 points. North Dakota (105), Creighton (115) and Northern Colorado (188) rounded out the meet's DI standings.
All five of the Falcons' scoring finishers -- Milliron (10th), Davey (13th), Siniscalchi (18th), Caswell (19th), Graf (23rd) -- placed within the top 25 in the overall field that included runners from the University (DI) and College (DII, DIII, NAIA) levels.
Fourteen additional Falcons also took part in the Woody Greeno Invitational.
Senior Sean Bapty finished 27th in the overall field with a time of 26:11.9, while sophomore Forrest Isenhour took 30th in 26:18.4. Freshman Jacob Bilvado finished 33rd with an 8K debut of 26:21.8, while sophomore Jimmy Shipley and freshman Andrew Tankersley placed 35th (26:26.1) and 36th (26:27.0), respectively. Sophomore Conner Wilburn finished 42nd in his season debut with a time of 26:31.3, while classmate Anthony Bucci finished 54th after crossing the finish line in 26:50.9.
Freshman Tim Ward and Noah Riley finished 61st (27:04.8) and 65th (27:09.2), respectively, while freshmen Nathan Thomas (80th, 27:20.7) and Parker Seale (81st, 27:21.3) crossed the finish line in back-to-back spots. Sophomore Sean Lyons (84th, 27:24.3), freshman Nikolai Rhodes (94th, 27:32.4) and classmate John Quinn (96th, 27:34.0) rounded out the contingent of Air Force runners.
Air Force is off from competition until Oct. 2-3, when it splits for a pair of meets. Part of the squad will travel to Seattle for the Washington Invitational on Friday, Oct. 2, while the rest of the team heads to Boulder for the annual Rocky Mountain Shootout on Saturday, Oct. 3.
