Falcons in Ninth After First Day of Ram Masters

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Juniors Brenden Bone and Sunwoo Choi paced the Air Force golf team during the first day of action at the Ram Masters Invitational in Fort Collins. Following an opening round score of 303 at the Fort Collins Country Club, the Falcons shot a 296 on the second 18 to finish the day tied for ninth (599, 39-over par) with Denver.
Bone and Choi finished the opening day of play in a tie for 27th, after recording matching two-round scores of 147 (seven-over par). After recording a 78 on the opening 18, Bone fired a one-under par score of 69 (season low) in the second round to improve his overall standing by 45 places -- the largest jump of anyone in the 88-golfer field. Choi, who moved up nine places during the first day of play, scored a four-over 74 in the first round and a three-over 73 in the second.
Freshman Bryant Falconello carded a 12-over par score of 152 (74-78) over the first two rounds to tie for 52nd, while senior Michael Fan is tied for 58th with a 13-over par tally of 153 (77-76). Freshman Tate Tatom rounded out the Falcons' lineup with a two-round score of 162 (22-over, 84-78).
Competing as an individual, sophomore Kyle Fuller is tied for 63rd with a 14-over score of 154 (74-80).
Tournament host Colorado State leads the tournament after two rounds with an even-par score of 560, while Ben Welle of Kansas leads the individual standings with a six-under tally of 134.
The third and final round of action at the Ram Masters Invitational will take place tomorrow (Sept. 22), with tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m.
