Falcons Conclude First Day of Loyola Intercollegiate

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- The Air Force golf team opened the spring portion of its season today (Feb. 28), with the first 18 holes of the Loyola Intercollegiate in Goodyear, Arizona. Shooting an even-par 288 during the opening round at Palm Valley Golf Club, the Falcons are currently tied for 11th.
With a six-under par score of 67, senior Michael Fan carded the Falcons' lowest single-round score of the year during the tournament's opening round. Currently seventh in the 104-golfer field, Fan is just two strokes behind the clubhouse leader.
Carding a one-over 73, junior Brenden Bone is tied for 52nd after the first day. Classmate Sunwoo Choi and freshman Turner Howe are tied for 63rd with matching first-round scores of 74 (two-over), while freshman Tate Tatom is tied for 82nd with a four-over par score of 76.
Three Falcons are competing as individuals at Palm Valley during the tournament. Junior Troy Berglund is tied for 52nd with a one-over par score of 73, while freshman Bryant Falconello is tied for 63rd with a two-over score of 74. Sophomore Todd Millard is 11-over par, after an opening day 83 (102nd, tie).
After one of day play, Indiana leads the team standings with a 17-under 271, while Connecticut's Zach Zaback leads the individual standings with a seven-under 65.
Air Force continues action at the Loyola Intercollegiate tomorrow (Feb. 29) with the second round of 18.
