Air Force Continues Action at Loyola Intercollegiate

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- The Air Force golf team sits in 13th after two rounds of competition at the Loyola Intercollegiate, which continued today (Feb. 29) at the Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona. The Falcons shot a 13-over score of 301 on the second 18 and hold a two-day total of 589 (288-301, 13 over).
Freshman Bryant Falconello, competing as an individual at the tournament, improved by four strokes (70) during the second round to climb 36 spots in the individual standings. With a two-day total of 144 (74-70), Falconello is at even par and tied for 27th in the 104-golfer field.
Senior Michael Fan continued to lead the five scoring golfers for Air Force, as he is tied for 34th after two rounds with a one-over par score of 145 (67-78). Junior Brenden Bone and freshman Turner Howe, who both shot a three-over 75, are tied for 56th (73-75=148, four-over) and 60th (74-75=149, five-over), respectively, while freshman Tate Tatom shot a 74 in the second round to improve 13 spots in the overall standings (69th, tie) and end the first 36 holes with a six-over score of 150 (76-74). Junior Sunwoo Choi rounded out the Falcons' lineup on the second day, as he is currently tied for 73rd with a two-day total of 151 (74-77, seven-over).
Like Falconello, junior Troy Berglund and sophomore Todd Millard are also competing as individuals at the Palm Valley Golf Club. Shooting an 83 on the second 18, Berglund is tied for 94th with a two-day total of 156 (73-83, 12-over), while Millard improved by five strokes (78) to move into a tie for 99th with a 36-hole score of 161 (83-78, 17-over).
Arkansas State took over the lead in the team with a two-round total of 560 (279-281, 16-under), while the Red Wolves' Tanner Napier moved into the top spot of the individual standings with a two-day total of 134 (66-68, 10-under).
The Falcons conclude the Loyola Intercollegiate tomorrow (March 1), with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m.
