COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Air Force sophomore Andrew Milliron (Charles Town, W.V.) was named the Mountain West Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced this afternoon (Sept. 22). He is the first member of the men's program to win a weekly MW award since 2013.
Milliron was the Falcons' top finisher at the Nebraska-Woody Greeno Invitational this past Saturday (Sept. 19), finishing fifth in the University Division and 10th in the full field of 233 runners. Completing the 8K course around Pioneers Park in a time of 25:52.5, Milliron cut nearly two minutes off of his previous best time at that distance.
With his fifth-place finish in the field of 67 University Division runners, Milliron paced a squad of young Air Force runners to a second-place finish in the team standings.
The sophomore shared the conference's Sept. 22 honor with San Diego State's Elaine Ribeiro, who was selected as the women's cross country runner of the week.
Air Force is off from competition until the Oct. 2-3 weekend, when the squad splits for the Washington Invitational in Seattle (Oct. 2) and the Rocky Mountain Shootout in Boulder (Oct. 3).
