A pair of kills from Sherrill, as well as a single strike from Parker, gave the Falcons a fast 3-0 start to the fourth set, but San Diego State used its own run to tie the set at three. Clement (kill) and Conlan (ace) put down back-to-back scores, while a block from Sherrill and Rosas, as well as a kill from Spires, forced the Aztecs into a timeout at the 7-4 mark. SDSU cut the Falcons' lead to one (10-9), but Air Force responded with a pair of kills from both Clement and Sherrill, as well as a Sherrill service ace, to go up six (18-12). The Falcons, backed by kills from Parker, Spires and Clement, claimed six of the final seven points to take the set 25-15 and secure the 3-1 overall victory.
"Everyone hit well today," McShane said after the match. "I think the setters did a really good job of distributing the ball to lots of different people. I think Maggie said it best (during her post-match interview on GoAirForceFalcons.com) ... it was a team victory. Everybody out there played well and it was a very, very good team win."
Air Force has just one match on its itinerary for the upcoming week, as it travels to California on Thursday, Oct. 1, to face San Jose State at 6:00 p.m. (PT).
