Air Force Defeats Nevada in rifle

U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. - No. 6 Air Force defeated No. 13 Nevada in rifle today, 4679-4648. In smallbore, Air Force shot a 2310-2309 and scored a 2369-2339 in the air rifle event.
Top Individual Rankings: Air Force finished in the top-three of the individual rankings with David Higgins, who tied his personal best in air rifle with a 594; he had an 1172 aggregate which included a 578 in the smallbore. Anna Weilbacher set a personal best 592 in the air rifle with a 197, 199, and 196, and tied with Higgins for total points. She fired a 580 in the smallbore. Ranked third, Spencer Cap shot an impressive 593 in the air rifle scoring a 198, 198, and 197; he also shot a 577 in smallbore (1170).
Also, in the top individual ranks was Ryan Jacobs, who scored a 575 in smallbore and 590 in air rifle for an 1165 aggregate. Spencer Brandon was ranked seventh with his scores of 576 smallbore, 587 air rifle and 1163 aggregate. Tyler Rico followed with a 572 smallbore, 590 in air rifle (1162).
Rifle Athlete of the Week (Jan. 25): This week's rifle athlete of the week is Anna Weilbacher. Her 592 in air rifle added to the squad's 30 point lead over Nevada (2369-2339). Her 1172 ranked as the No. 2 top individual scores in the match.
The rifle team will have a short break in competition as the Falcons prepare for the 2016 Patriot Rifle Conference Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, on Feb. 6-7.
