Air Force senior safety Weston Steelhammer has been named to his second All-American team this season, earning a third-team selection by the Associated Press. Steelhammer was a second-team selection by The Sporting News last week.
Steelhammer is Air Force's first All-American and first to be named to a pair of teams since cornerback Reggie Rembert was named a first-team AFCA and third-team Associated Press All-American in 2010.
A native of Shreveport, La., Steelhammer was also named first-team all-Mountain West. He is the first player in school history to earn first-team honors three times, as he was also selected in 2014 and 2015. Steelhammer leads the Falcons in tackles for the second straight year with 75 and has 4.5 tackles for loss and a sack. He leads the Mountain West and ranks fifth in the nation with six interceptions. He is the NCAA's active career leader in interceptions with 17 for his career which ties the Academy record.
Steelhammer was also a finalist for the Lott IMPACT Trophy and was on the Watch List for the Jim Thorpe Award and the Bronko Nagurski Award.
