
Steelhammer named Sporting News All-American

U.S. AIR FORCE ACAEMY, Colo. - Air Force senior safety Weston Steelhammer was named to The Sporting News All-America second team, as announced today.
Steelhammer is Air Force's first All-American since cornerback Reggie Rembert was named a first-team AFCA and third-team Associated Press All-American in 2010.
A native of Shreveport, La., Steelhammer was also named first-team all-Mountain West. He is the first player in school history to earn first-team honors three times, as he was also selected in 2014 and 2015. Steelhammer leads the Falcons in tackles for the second straight year with 75 and has 4.5 tackles for loss and a sack. He leads the Mountain West and ranks fifth in the nation with six interceptions. He has 17 for his career which ties the Academy record.
Steelhammer is also a finalist for the Lott IMPACT Trophy and was on the Watch List for the Jim Thorpe Award and the Bronko Nagurski Award.
