Falcons Open Outdoor Season at Jerry Quiller Classic

The Air Force track and field team returns to action this weekend, when it travels to Boulder, Colo., to open the outdoor portion of the season at the annual Jerry Quiller Classic. The throwers kick off the two-day meet on Friday, March 18, while the rest of the team begins competition on Saturday, March 19.

MEET INFORMATION
The Jerry Quiller Classic will be held at Potts Field on the University of Colorado's East Campus (corner of Innovation Drive and Discovery Drive). The hammer throw and javelin throw will be contested on Friday, while all other events will take place on Saturday (a complete schedule is below). Several Front Range schools will be competing in the outdoor opener. Live results are not scheduled to be available.

LOOK WHO'S BACK...
Air Force returns one NCAA All-American (Dylan Bell, pole vault, 2015); one West Region champion (Hannah Everson, 10,000-meter run, 2015) and three Academy record holders – Everson (5000-meter run; 10,000-meter run), Grant Hamilton (shot put) and Shelley Spires (high jump). The Falcons' outdoor roster also includes five returning Mountain West champions – Patrick Corona (5000-meter run, 2015), Kyle Eller (10,000-meter run, 2015), Hamilton (discus throw, 2015; shot put, 2015), Taylor Smith (high jump, 2014-2015) and Jamiel Trimble (110-meter hurdles, 2015). In addition, Air Force also returns three of the four sprinters from the 4x100-meter relay that claimed the conference title (Trimble, Robbie Anderson, Zach Johnson).

The Falcons will host one meet at the Cadet Outdoor Track and Field Complex this season – the AF Twilight Open on May 6.
RECAPPING THE INDOOR SEASON IN LESS THAN 250 WORDS
The Falcons combined for eight Academy records, one Mountain West team title, five individual conference titles, the first top-20 ranking in program history and an Academy-best four NCAA All-America accolades during the indoor season. Highlighted by at least one scoring finish in every event and MW titles from Dylan Bell (pole vault), Patrick Corona (3000-meter run), Taylor Smith (high jump) and Jamiel Trimble (60-meter hurdles), the men captured the program's second MW Indoor title. Hannah Everson highlighted the women's meet with a conference title in the 3000-meter run. Bell and Smith both set Academy records in their respective events during the indoor season, while Corona (mile, 3000-meter run) and Everson (3000-meter run, 5000-meter run) each recorded a pair of program-best marks. Trimble registered an Academy record in the 200-meter dash, while Shelley Spires equaled the program's high jump record. Ralph Lindeman was named the Mountain West and USTFCCCA Mountain Region Head Coach of the Year, while Everson was honored as the USTFCCCA Mountain Region Female Track Athlete of the Year. Smith finished second in the high jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships to garner the first All-America citation by a high jumper in program history, while Everson, who placed seventh in the 5000-meter run, became the first female in Air Force's Division I history to earn All-America honors at an indoor championship meet. In addition, Corona (3000-meter run) and Trimble (200-meter dash) were named second-team All-Americans and Bell (pole vault) earned Honorable Mention status.
