
Air Force marksman Spencer Cap earns silver

U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. - (April 14, 2016) – The men's rifle competitions of the 2016 National Junior Olympic Shooting Championships (NJOSC) ended Wednesday with Air Force freshman Spencer Cap earning a silver medal at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Cap earned National Junior Team status for his second-place finish in the 10m air rifle. In the finals, Cap scored a 162.3 and finished the event with a total 1249.5. William Shaner from Colorado Springs was the air rifle champion with a 1250.
In the 50m three position rifle, Cap finished fourth with a 2319 and had a 426.5 in the finals. He finished fifth in the prone event with a 1242.5 (183.7 finals). Cap was one of three athletes to earn a spot in all three event finals.
Also competing the air rifle event, Air Force freshman Nick Learn finished 22nd with a match score of 1215.4. He finished 11th in the three position event with a score of 2280, and was 10th overall in the prone rifle with a score of 1230.4.
The NJOSCs continue with the women's air rifle event on April 18-19. Air Force freshman Anna Weilbacher is expected to compete in the women's air rifle.
