Falcons Conclude First Round at El Macero Classic

EL MACERO, Calif. – The Air Force golf team finished the first day of competition at the El Macero Classic on Friday, April 15, in a tie for eighth. Competing in under windy conditions at the country club in El Macero, Calif., the Falcons tied with Seattle and Northern Colorado after recording a 315 (27 over par) on the first 18 holes.
Junior Brenden Bone led the Falcons during the opening round at El Macero Country Club, as he tied for 20th with a four-over par score of 76. Freshman Bryant Falconello carded a 79 (seven over) during the first 18 holes to tie for 40th, while junior Sunwoo Choi and sophomore Dane Hankamer finished the opening round one shot back (80, eight over) and tied for 53rd. Senior Michael Fan rounded out the Falcons' five-man roster on Friday, as he tied for 65th with a nine-over par score of 81.
Freshman Tate Tatom, competing as an individual, carded a seven-over 79 during the first round to join Falconello in tie for 40th.
Texas Tech leads team standings after shooting a three-over par round of 291 on Friday. The Red Raiders' Federico Zucchetti, the only golfer in the 90-man field to shoot under par, is the individual leader with a two-under score of 70.
The Falcons return to country club in El Macero tomorrow (April 16) for the second round of play. Action is slated to begin at 10:00 a.m. (PT).
