Music superstar Tim McGraw, a 3-time Grammy Award winner with 36 #1 singles to his name, will headline The American Kickoff at Falcon Stadium on Sept. 17, a unique concert event with the Rampart Range of the Rocky Mountains serving as the backdrop. Along with McGraw, the concert will also feature multi-platinum selling rock band Train, who was named the top rock artist of 2011 at the Billboard Music Awards.
"We are very excited to welcome Tim McGraw and Train to one of the premier college football stadiums in America," Air Force Athletic Director Jim Knowlton said. "This is a great example of the teamwork between the athletic department, the Air Force Academy Athletic Corporation (AFAAC) and our partners at Basis Entertainment and IMG. The athletic department helps develop leaders of character for our nation while also providing world class opportunities for our cadets, the Academy and our community. We are truly looking forward to a fantastic event."
"We are thrilled to announce this major concert in Falcon Stadium and will continue to work to bring events like these to the Academy to enhance the connection between the Academy and our community," AFAAC CEO Dr. Nancy Hixson said.
Iowa-based Basis Entertainment executive Gary DeWaard said he thinks area residents, as well as Academy students, will enjoy such a unique event.
"Colorado Springs and Falcon Stadium is the perfect place to celebrate the red, white and blue later this year," DeWaard said. "We can't wait to bring Tim McGraw, Train and other fantastic musical artists to the area, and couldn't be more pleased to be working with the Air Force Academy to make it happen."
Tickets for the event will go on sale May 20 to Air Force Academy students and season ticket holders before being available to the general public on May 25.
Additional information, including other performing acts and ticket prices, will be announced in the coming weeks. Visit www.americankickoff.com or www.goairforcefalcons.com for more information.

About Train
Train is a multi-GRAMMY and Billboard award-winning band from San Francisco, CA that has had 13 songs on Billboard's Hot 100 list since the release of their debut self-titled album. Train's climb to the top began in San Francisco in 1994, as the original 5-member band tenaciously built a loyal following, leading up to their own self-titled debut album, released by Columbia in 1998. The tumbling wordplay of "Meet Virginia" gave them their first unlikely radio hit and 2001's Drops Of Jupiter broke them to multi-platinum status thanks to the double-GRAMMY award-winning title song that spent 10 months in the Top 40, and snaring the Best Rock Song GRAMMY award by beating out Coldplay and two U2 songs. The group won another GRAMMY award in 2011 for their global hit "Hey Soul Sister," the #1 best-selling smash and most downloaded single of 2010, from their multi-platinum album Save Me, San Francisco. Next was 2012's California 37, which launched the hit "Drive By" reaching the Top 10 in 13 countries. They've sold more than 10 million albums worldwide, more than 30 million tracks, with multiple platinum/gold citations, including 3 GRAMMY awards, 2 Billboard Music Awards and dozens of other honors. In 2014 Bulletproof Picasso—the band's 7th studio album—debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard Top 200 and earned rave reviews. Most recently, Train announced the release of their first ever holiday album, Christmas in Tahoe, bringing their signature sound to holiday classics as well as three original songs. Additionally, Train's award-winning Save Me, San Francisco Wine Co. has recently released their 6th varietal, 'Bulletproof Picasso' sauvignon blanc. Proceeds from the wine support Family House, a San Francisco charity that supports families of children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
