Air Force athletics announces major award winners

Air Force athletics recognized several cadet-athletes for their accomplishments during the 2015-16 sports season at the Academy's annual awards ceremony. Senior track and field All-American Hannah Everson took home female athlete of the year honors while All-American swimmer Michael Barnosky took home male MVP honors. Senior Doug Gouchoe of the lacrosse team won the scholar-athlete award while All-American Patrick Corona from track won the athletic achievement award. Senior Alex Hansen from football was the athletic leadership award winner and U.S. Olympic team member David Higgins from rifle won the athletic achievement award.
A complete round up of the top six award winners, as well as highlights from each sport and the most valuable athlete from each sport follows below.
Male Most Valuable Athlete: Senior Michael Barnosky produced one of the greatest seasons ever by a Falcon swimmer. His third-place finish in the 100 breast stroke at the NCAA Championships is the best ever by a Falcon, earning him All-American honors. He was named the Western Athletic Conference swimmer of the year as he won the 100 breast stroke, setting a new school and league record. He was also named all-league in the 200 breast stroke and 200 IM while helping lead the Falcons to the team championship.
Female Most Valuable Athlete: Hannah Everson, who holds every Academy record from the 3000- to 10,000-meter distances, is in the midst of another stellar season. She is the first Air Force female to garner All-America honors at the Division I level in both cross country (22nd) and indoor track (seventh at 5000 meters), while also being the first to earn the following running awards from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) - National Cross Country Runner of the Week (Sept. 8), Regional Female Cross Country Runner of the Year and Regional Female Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. Everson, who claimed the program's first conference indoor title in a running event with a victory in the 3000-meter, also won the NCAA Mountain Region title in cross country earlier this season. She is ranked among the nation's leaders in the 10,000-meter run (sixth) heading into the NCAA preliminary round.
Scholar-Athlete Award: Senior Doug Gouchoe started all 18 games in goal for the Falcon lacrosse team and led the team to a 15-3 overall record and berth to the NCAA tournament. Off the field, Gouchoe posted a 3.56 cumulative GPA and had a 3.71 grade point average in his major of biology. He was on the dean's list every semester and has been selected for the prestigious pre-med program at Thomas Jefferson Medical School.
Athletic Leadership Award: Senior Alex Hansen was elected team captain by his teammates and considered one of the best players head coach Troy Calhoun has coached at the Academy. Hansen was third on the team and tops for all defensive linemen in tackles with 70. He led the team in tackles for loss with 15.5 and sacks with 7.5. Hansen, who earned first-team all-Mountain West honors this season, had a stop behind the line of scrimmage in 11 straight and 12 of 14 games this season. Hansen blocked two kicks this season, a field goal at Michigan State and a PAT vs. San Jose State.
Athletic Excellence Award: Patrick Corona is in the middle of a strong senior season that includes one All-America honor, one Mountain West title, four Academy records and a share of the men's "Triple Crown" (Mountain West titles in cross country, indoor track/field, outdoor track/field). During the cross country season, Corona finished second at the MW Championships and fourth at the NCAA Regional, while representing the Academy at the national meet. Corona, who became the first Air Force runner to break the four-minute mile with an altitude-adjusted 3:59.77 at the Air Force Invitational, also set Academy records in the indoor 3000-meter run (7:50.60), outdoor 5000-meter run (13:37.24) and outdoor mile (4:00.51) during the track and field seasons, while winning the conference title at 3000 meters and claiming All-America (second-team) status after finishing ninth at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Entering the preliminary round of the NCAA Outdoor Championships, Corona, who tied an Academy record with eight MW Athlete of the Week awards, is ranked eighth nationally in the 5000-meter run.
Athletic Achievement Award: David Higgins is the first-ever USAFA cadet to make an Olympic Team, earning the gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Trials in men's prone. In 2016, he was the Patriot Rifle Conference smallbore champion. He earned National Rifle Association All-American honorable mention in 2016. He qualified for multiple World Cups, was a member of the 2014 World Championship Team, won a gold medal at the 2014 Championship of America's Games, and he finished sixth in the nation at the 2013 National Rifle Championships.
Team Most Valuable Players
Women's Cross Country: Hannah Everson had another stellar cross country season, en route to her third straight MVP award. The senior became the first member of the women's cross country team to garner All-America honors at the Division I level, as she finished 22nd at the NCAA Championships. Everson, who captured all-conference honors for the third straight year after placing third at the Mountain West meet, won the Mountain Region title in 2015, bettering a field of 127 runners by more than 10 seconds. The senior finished within the top five of all six regular-season meets, including a runner-up finish at the prestigious Pre-National Invitational (311 total runners). Everson also selected as the USTFCCCA Mountain Region Female Runner of the Year, becoming the first Falcon in program history to receive that distinction.
Men's Cross Country: Patrick Corona had a strong senior season on the cross country trails, earning all-conference and all-region honors, while representing the Academy at the NCAA Championships. Corona, who claimed first-team all-MW status after finishing second at the Mountain West Championships for the second straight year, added a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Regional Championships to earn an automatic berth in to the national meet. Corona paced the Falcons in all three 8K races, while finishing within the top five during two of those meets.
Volleyball: Senior Akokwe Clement, the first Falcon in Division I history to garner multiple all-conference selections (2014-2015), became the Academy's all-time leader for kills (1501) and points (1661.50) this year. Ranked third in the Mountain West for kills (3.83 per set) and points (4.39 per set), Clement registered four 20-kill matches, became the program's Division I leader in single-season points (553.50), earned MW Player of the Week honors on Sept 14 and led Air Force in kills during 27 contests.

Women's Soccer: Sophomore midfielder Angela Karamanos is earned second team All-Mountain West and Academic All-Mountain West honors. The midfielder ranked second on the team with five goals and 11 points.
Men's Soccer: Senior defender Ben Kern is the team co-captain and earned second team All-Western Athletic Conference honors. In addition, he was named to the CU Inaria Classic All-Tournament Team. Kern led the team with four assists and was third with six points.
Football Lineman/Special Teams Award: Sophomore kicker Luke Strebel was the team's starting kicker the last eight games. He hit 10 of 11 field goals and was perfect in 37 extra point attempts. He was third on the team in scoring with 67 points. Strebel took over the punting duties during the New Mexico game and had three punts for a 46.3 average with a then-long of 49 on his first-career punt. He added a career-long punt of 52 yards at San Diego State and averaged 40.0 yards per punt.
Football Offensive Player Award: Senior quarterback Karson Roberts capped a record-breaking season by being named Air Force's most valuable player in the 2015 Armed Forces Bowl in his home-state of Texas. Roberts led the Falcons in passing with 1,595 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was second on the team in rushing with 743 yards and led the team with 10 rushing touchdowns. Roberts was one of 12 quarterbacks nationally to rush, pass and catch a touchdown. Roberts' 1,595 yards passing rank fifth in school history and are the most since 2011 while his 11 touchdown passes tie as the ninth most in school history and are the most since 2011.
Football Defensive Player Award: Junior Weston Steelhammer led the Falcons in tackles with 80 and interceptions with five. He finished third on the team in tackles for loss with 10.5 and second in pass breakups with seven. The first-team all-Mountain West junior safety recorded his fifth interception at New Mexico. The interception is the 11 of his career which ties for fifth in school history. Steelhammer has 14 career turnovers (11 INT, 3 FR).
Women's Basketball: Sophomore guard Cortney Porter led the Falcons in scoring, averaging 11.0 points per game. Porter ranked sixth in the Mountain West with 105 assists and 58 steals. Porter's steals total ranks third and assists are eighth in school history in the Div. I era.
Men's Basketball: Junior Hayden Graham led the team in scoring (13.8), rebounding (6.3) and minutes played (35.9) and ranked among the top 12 in the conference in each category. He also led the team and ranked fourth in field goal percentage (48.4). Graham scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed seven rebounds and had three assists in 40 minutes against Colorado State Jan. 20. Graham led the team with five double-doubles including 21 points and 11 rebounds against New Mexico.
Hockey: Freshman Shane Starrett was a first-team all-conference selection as he helped lead the Falcons to a second-place finish in Atlantic Hockey. A member of the league's all-rookie team, he led the conference in goals-against average (1.68) and was second in saves percentage in league games (.931). In all games, his GAA and saves percentage are the second best in school history and best ever by a freshman.
Rifle: Freshman Spencer Cap earned a silver medal at the 2016 National Junior Olympic Championships and earned a slot on the Junior Olympic Team. At his first national championship, Cap earned National Rifle Association All-American honorable mention in air rifle, and he earned all-conference honors at the Patriot Rifle Conference. He helped to take the team to its fourth-place finish in both the conference and NCAA.
Women's Gymnastics: Kara Witgen had a tremendous junior campaign in 2016, claiming all-conference second-team honors as the team leader on the vault, uneven bars, floor exercise all-around. Earning a share of 11 event titles, including five in the all-around, Witgen posted career-best marks on the vault (9.750), uneven bars (9.825) and all-around (39.050). After breaking the 39-point barrier for the first time in her career against a pair of nationally-ranked teams on March 6, she was honored as the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week - the program's first such award since 2014.
Men's Gymnastics: Tim Wang earned his second MVP honor in three years following a stellar junior campaign that included two Academy records (pommel horse: 15.650, vault: 15.350), two USAG national titles (pommel horse, all-around), four USAG All-America awards (pommel horse, parallel bars, high bar, all-around) and a NCAA All-America award on the pommel horse. With a seventh-place finish on the pommel horse at the NCAA Championships, Wang became the first Academy gymnast to ever capture multiple All-America honors in the same event and just the second to earn more than one award in any event in a career.
Boxing: Senior Gytenis Borusas capped off a stellar senior season with his third Wing Open title and his third All-America honor from the National Collegiate Boxing Association. Borusas, who won the 185-pound Wing Open title as a sophomore and the 175-pound title as a junior, claimed his third straight Wing Open title in March, earning a referee-stopped victory (third round) at 175 pounds. The senior earned his second NCBA regional title this spring, while claiming NCBA All-America honors after finishing second at the NCBA Championships.
Women's Swimming: Junior Genevieve Miller became Air Force's first ever Division I All-American in women's swimming. Miller won the 500 free and 1650 free at the Mountain West Championships for the third straight year, setting a school and conference record in both events. She then placed 13th in 500 and 10th in the 1650 at the national championships.

Diving: Senior Nathanael Zillweger was named the Western Athletic Conference Diver of the Year for the second time as won the league title in the 1-meter and 3-meter events. He competed in the NCAA Championships on the 3-meter and on the platform, becoming the first Falcon to compete at the NCAA Men's Division I Diving Championships since 1991.
Women's Fencing: Senior Mary McElwee concludes her Academy career as one of only two Air Force women to qualify for the national fencing championships four consecutive years. She is a medalist in multiple Junior World Cups, National Championships, North American Cup Championships and collegiate competitions. She was the undefeated individual foil champion in 2015 and 2016 NCAA West Region Championships, and is a two-time all-region and all-Western Fencing Conference honoree.
Men's Fencing: Senior Ryan Redhead concluded his Academy career a top medalist for both open and region championships. He was an NCAA Fencing Championship qualifier in both 2014 and 2015, finishing 22nd and 21st, respectively. He was the 2016 men's team co-captain and finished the season winning over 58 percent of his competitions and has a career record of 152-97.
Wrestling: Senior Josh Martinez concluded his wrestling career with 109 wins and four trips to the NCAA tournament. The Western Wrestling Conference Freshman of the Year held his highest national ranking of No. 7 for two weeks. He is a three-time All-Academy Championships title winner and has earned top-finishes in over 10 national tournaments in his career. Martinez was 23-8 this season and 109-33 for his career.
Women's Tennis: Junior Chloe Forlini earned all-Mountain West honors for singles. Forlini led the Falcons with a 28-12 overall singles record, including a 17-7 mark in dual matches. Her 28 wins are the second most in a single season at the Division I level in school history, trailing only the 33 she won last season. Forlini also led the team in doubles with a 26-11 overall record and 13-6 mark in dual matches.
Men's Tennis: Senior Jack McCullers earned all-Mountain West honors in singles and doubles this season. McCullers was among the team leaders in singles wins with 13 and doubles wins with 17. He posted a 2-4 singles mark and 4-4 doubles record in conference play.
Lacrosse: Senior Doug Gouchoe was the Southern Conference defensive player of the year and the SoCon Tournament MVP as he helped lead the Falcons to a 15-3 overall record and the SoCon regular season and tournament championship. He led the league in both goals-against average and saves percentage and ranked among the national leaders in both categories.
Baseball: Junior pitcher Griffin Jax leads the Mountain West with a 1.91 earned run average, which is on pace to set a new school record. The right hander is second in the conference with eight wins, 76 strikeouts in 89.1 innings pitched. His eight wins ranks seventh all-time at Air Force and his five wins in MW play is a school record.
Track and Field Men's MVP (as of 18 May 16): One All-America award, four conference titles and five Academy records highlight the remarkable sophomore campaign of Jamiel Trimble, who will continue competition next week in the preliminary round of the NCAA Championships. Trimble, who was named the Outstanding Performer of the Mountain West Outdoor Championships, set Academy records during winning performances in the 200-meter dash (20.56) and 110-meter hurdles (13.80), while anchoring the 4x100-meter relay to the victory with a new program record time of 39.92. Trimble, who also debuted in the Academy's top 10 for the 100-meter (10.46) and 400-meter (46.92) events, anchored the 4x200-meter relay that set a program record (1:23.39) to win the Drake Relays. During the indoor season, Trimble earned All-America (second-team) honors in the 200-meter dash at the NCAA Championships.
Men's Track and Field Outstanding Competitor (as of 18 May 16): An Academy record and two conference titles in the pole vault have highlighted the track and field season - so far - for senior Dylan Bell. During the indoor season, Bell cleared an Academy-record 18'2¾" - the second-best clearance in Mountain West history - and accounted for four first-place finishes. He claimed the MW title and advanced to the NCAA Championships for the second straight year, earning All-America (Honorable Mention) status from the USTFCCCA. Outdoors, Bell cleared a career-best 18'2½" - the second-best height in Academy history and the third-best height in conference history - and repeated as conference champion, becoming just the fifth MW vaulter to surpass 18 feet at the outdoor championship meet (18'0½"). For his career, Bell has cleared the 18-foot bar more time than any other vaulter in program history (four).
Women's Track (as of 18 May 16): In the midst of another stellar season, senior Hannah Everson became the program's first female to earn All-America distinction at the Division I level, as she finished seventh in the 5000-meter run at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Everson, the first Air Force runner to win an indoor title at the Mountain West Championships, was named the USTFCCCA Mountain Region Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. She shattered her own Academy records in the 3000-meter (9:32.79) and 5000-meter (15:53.64) events to debut among the top five on the MW all-time lists. Outdoors, she clocked a career-best 33:05.26 at Stanford to crush her own Academy record at 10,000-meters.
Women's Track Women's Outstanding Competitor: (as of 18 May 16) Sophomore Shelley Spires is in the midst of a stellar high jump season for the Falcons, accounting for two Academy records and a Mountain West title. Spires matched the program's indoor record of 5'10½" at the Air Force Team Challenge - a clearance that would rank her among the nation's top 40 - during one of her three first-place finishes during the first half of the season. Although injury held her out of the MW Indoor Championships, she came back strong for the outdoor season, claiming three more event titles. Spires moved into the top 30 nationally after clearing 5'10½" to break her own Air Force outdoor record at the Twilight Open and became just the second female in program history to win a conference title in the high jump, as she cleared 5'9¼" at the MW Outdoor Championships.
Golf: Sunwoo Choi had a strong junior season, en route to MVP honors for the second straight year. Competing in every tournament this season, Choi posted a team-low average of 73.8 and was the Falcons' top finisher in five tournaments - including four of the six spring events. He recorded one of the team's three top-10 finishes, as he tied for sixth at the Jackrabbit Invitational (one-over 217). Choi, who also lead Air Force at the Ram Masters Invitational (19th tie), Barona Collegiate Cup (35th tie), Cowboy Classic (11th) and MW Championships (22nd tie), posted the team's lowest round of the year (66) at the Cowboy Classic and matched the team's third-lowest round (68) at the Jackrabbit Invitational.
Team Recaps
Water Polo: The water polo team used a strong finish to post a 12-19 overall record, a third-place finish in the Western Water Polo Association tournament that was hosted at the Academy. The Falcons finished the season with a final ranking of 16th in the nation.
Football: Air Force was 8-6 overall this season and won the Mountain Division, advancing to its first Mountain West championship game. The Falcons earned a trip to the Armed Forces Bowl where they played Pac-12 member California. Air Force went undefeated at home for the second straight year and has a school-record 12-game home winning streak.
Women's Soccer: Air Force finished the season 4-14-1. Senior Ally Swift, who led the team in scoring with six goals, earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors. Senior Rebecca Beasley earned NSCAA Scholar All-West Region Team.
Men's Soccer: Air Force finished the season 7-9-1. The Falcons opened the season with a 1-0 win over service academy rival Army West Point. The game was played in front of a school-record crowd of 3,683. Senior Ken Kern led the team with four assists.
Men's Cross Country: Backed by two top-three finishes and four all-conference selections, Air Force claimed the 2015 Mountain West team title - the program's first since 2003. The Falcons, who were ranked as high as 21st in the USTFCCCA National Rankings, added top-10 finishes at the CSU Invitational (first), Washington Invitational (fifth), Pre-National Invitational (eighth) and NCAA Mountain Regional (fifth). The men sent two runners - senior Patrick Corona, junior Kyle Eller - to the NCAA Championships, where Eller claimed the first program's first All-America honor since 2003.
Women's Cross Country: Senior Hannah Everson became the program's first-ever Division I All-American, as Air Force concluded a successful 2015 season. Everson, who won the NCAA Mountain Region title, finished second at the Pre-National Invitational and third at the Mountain West Championships, also became the first Air Force runner to be named the Mountain Regional Runner of the Year by the USTFCCCA. As a team, the Falcons finished third at the Mountain West Championships to match their highest finish ever at the conference meet (the best since the league expanded to 11 teams), while finishing sixth at the NCAA Mountain Regional.
Volleyball: The 2015 season included several milestones, including the first Division I victory over a member of the Pac-12 (3-2 vs. California on Sept 12), the second win ever over an Ivy League school (3-0 vs Harvard on Sept 11), the first-ever season sweep of San Diego State and the first victory over UNLV since 1999. Highlighted by a five-match win streak, Air Force equaled the DI record for non-conference wins (seven). In addition, Akokwe Clement (kills: 1501, points: 1661.5) and Rebecca Bates (digs: 1339) set DI career records in their final season.
Water Polo: Sophomore Riley Thomas earned honorable mention All-American honors as he led the Falcons with 46 goals and was second on the team with 26 assists and 47 steals. A first-team all-WWPA selection and WWPA all-tournament selection, he ranked sixth in the league in steals and 13th in goals and helped lead Air Force to a third-place finish in the conference.
Hockey: The hockey team posted a 20-12-5 record and reached the Atlantic Hockey Final Four for the seventh time in 10 years. The leadership of this year's senior class was instrumental in leading one of the nation's youngest teams to a second-place finish in the conference.
Men' Swimming and Diving: The men's swimming and diving team enjoyed the greatest season in school history by winning the Western Athletic Conference championship, the first ever conference title in program history, The team finished with a 15-1 dual meet record, posted 51 additions to the individual Academy all-time top 10 times, set 10 new school records.
Women's Swimming and Diving: The women's swimming and diving team posted a 14-9 dual meet record and claimed its first ever NCAA Division I All-American during the 2015-16 season. The Falcons set seven new school records and placed 34th at the NCAA Championships, the highest in school.
Men's Tennis: Air Force finished 7-18 overall this season. The team posted a 2-5 conference mark to finish sixth and earn its most wins and highest conference finish since 2005. Air Force was among the national leaders in attendance for home matches.
Women's Tennis: Air Force posted its seventh straight winning season, a first in the Division I era. The Falcons finished 13-12 overall, including a 6-1 mark at home. Air Force finished eighth in the Mountain West, matching the highest ever.
Men's Basketball: Air Force finished 14-18 overall and 5-13 in conference play. The 14 wins ties as the 12th most in the history of the program. Air Force was 12-5 at home which was fourth best in the conference. The team won the Air Force Classic with a 4-0 record.
Women's Basketball: Air Force finished the season 1-29. The Falcons defeated Nevada for its win. Air Force allowed 68.4 points per game, its lowest total in eight seasons.
Rifle: Air Force finished 13-8 this season and finished fourth in the NCAA championships. The team won the President's Cup during the season and had four All-Americans during the season. Senior David Higgins became the first active cadet to earn a spot on the U.S. Olympic team.
Fencing: Air Force finished third in the Western Fencing Conference and had three all-conference honorees. The senior class was a key component to the success of the team as senior Mary McElwee completed in the NCAA championships.
Boxing: Air Force concluded the 2015-16 campaign with a runner-up finish at the National Collegiate Boxing Association Championships. The Falcons, who also captured their 35th regional title in 37 years, accounted for three individual NCBA national champions, 11 NCBA All-Americans and six regional champions. The Falcons, who defeated Army West Point (6-2) at the Academy and split the season-opener at Navy (3-3), added team titles at the Chuck Davey Classic and at the NCBA Showcase.
Women's Gymnastics: Air Force finished the 2016 campaign with a 7-21 record and a 0-9 slate against Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opponents. The Falcons, who finished sixth at the MPSF Championships and fourth in their round of the USAG Qualifier, posted a season-high tally of 193.825 during their home finale against 13th-ranked Denver and 19th-ranked Minnesota.
Men's Gymnastics: Air Force picked up its seventh consecutive USAG Collegiate National team title in 2016, en route to its sixth straight team appearance to the NCAA Qualifier. Highlighted by a national runner-up finish from senior Denis Aurelius (still rings), a program-best three Falcons - sophomore Arinn Wade (pommel horse) and junior Tim Wang (pommel horse) - earned All-America honors after finishing within the top eight at the NCAA Championships. The men defeated Army and Navy to win their fifth straight Service Academy Classic, while six program records were set.
Wrestling: The Wrestling team concluded the 2015-16 season with an 8-6 overall record and a 2-3 mark in the conference. The Falcons earned a sixth place finish in their opening year as a Big 12 Conference affiliate team. Air Force had 31 wrestlers earn 54 place-winning finishes in 10 tournaments, including six title finishes. Three Falcons earned podium finishes at the Big 12 tournament and two wrestlers qualified for the NCAA tournament.
Lacrosse: In its first season in the Southern Conference, the Falcons won both the regular season and tournament championships. Air Force set a school record with a 15-game winning streak, the longest in the nation, and finished the season with a 15-3 overall record. The Falcons were a perfect 7-0 in league play and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three years.
Golf: The Falcons wrapped up the 2015-16 season with a 10th-place finish at the Mountain West Golf Championships. The Falcons earned a pair of top-five finishes on the year, including a runner-up finish at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate during the fall and a third-place finish at the Jackrabbit Invitational during the spring. Air Force added a seventh-place finish at the Mark Simpson Invitational, while finishing 10th in three additional meets, including the conference championships.
Baseball: Air Force was 30-27 overall and finished fifth in the conference with a 9-16 mark. Air Force set a school record for most Division I victories with 29. The 30 overall wins are the second most in school history. The Falcons finished third in the Mountain West tournament with a 2-2 mark. Junior pitcher Griffin Jax was one of 60 players selected to the Golden Spikes (awarded to the college baseball player of the year) midseason watch list.
Men's Track and Field (as of 31 May): In the midst of a stellar track and field campaign, Air Force swept the men's team titles at the Mountain West Indoor and Outdoor Championships this season, completing the "Triple Crown" that began with the cross country title in the fall. The men combined for 10 individual event championships, including a sweep of the pole vault titles from senior Dylan Bell. Over the course of the season, the Falcons have recorded 10 Academy records and made 28 additional improvements to the all-time standings. During the indoor season, Air Force was ranked as high as 19th in the nation and had three Falcons - senior Patrick Corona, junior Taylor Smith and sophomore Jamiel Trimble - earn All-America distinction.
Women's Track and Field (as of 31 May): At the midway point of the outdoor championship season, Air Force continues to rewrite the Academy record book. The Falcons, who finished ninth at last week's conference championships, have accounted for six program records and 27 other improvements to the all-time standings. Senior Hannah Everson became the first Division I All-American in program history after finishing seventh in the 5000-meter run at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Everson also grabbed the program's first Mountain West title in the 3000-meter run at the indoor meet, while sophomore Shelley Spires captured the league's high jump title at the outdoor meet.
