Air Force athletics has agreed to a five-year contract extension with Nike for all its intercollegiate programs, according to an announcement today from Director of Athletics Jim Knowlton. The extension runs through 2021 and more than doubles the previous commitment.
The deal calls for branding opportunities in football to include alternate jersey types and the Nike Mach Speed system. The Falcons have been with Nike since 2001.
“We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Nike,” Knowlton said. “It was clear during our negotiations that Nike felt the Academy is a premier brand and our relationship with Nike is valuable for our global branding efforts. We look forward to our continued partnership for many years to come with this industry leader.”
“This is a great opportunity for the Academy and our cadet-athletes,” said Dr. Nancy Hixson, chief executive officer of the Air Force Academy Athletic Corporation. “We are proud to provide such a ground-breaking partnership with Nike that essentially doubles our athletic apparel footprint here at Air Force. We are honored to partner with such a premier brand.”
