Warrior Ethos Camp honored by special guest
7/5/2016 12:00:00 AM | General
The inaugural Warrior Ethos Camp at the Air Force Academy received a surprise visit on Wednesday, June 29, as Lt. Gen. Mark C. Nowland, the commander of the 12th Air Force and Southern Command from Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz., shared some of his experiences with the group.
The Warrior Ethos Camp is designed to give campers some of the same experiences that cadets are taught to foster the warrior ethos. The camp highlights activities designed to elevate self-confidence, emotional control, persistence and courage. Young men and women from several states, ages 13-17, received training in combatives, boxing, rock climbing, vision training, yoga and speed and agility. The Academy’s physical education department staff, the same group that works with the cadets throughout the academic year, led the activities in the inaugural year of the camp. The majority of the training, was done in the Cadet Gymnasium from June 27-29. As part of the camp, the campers received a tour of the Academy’s airfield, where the group met Lt. Gen. Nowland.
