Air Force Travels to Green Bay
Air Force women's soccer travels to Green Bay for its lone match of the week. The Falcons take on the Phoenix on Sunday, Aug. 28. Kick time is 2 pm CT.
Last Weekend
Air Force went 0-1-1 in its opening weekend of matches in the 2016 Colorado Cup.
The Falcons lost the season-opener at home to Colorado 2-0. The Buffaloes scored the first goal of the match with just three seconds to go before halftime. An insurance goal was scored in the 79th minute.
On Sunday, the Falcons rebounded with a 2-2 tie against Northern Colorado in a neutral-site match at Prentup Field in Boulder. The tie snapped a 10-match losing streak to UNC which dated back to the 2004 season. After trailing early on UNC's goal in the 40th minute, the Falcons rallied back with a pair of second-half goals. Northern Colorado was able to get the equalizer in the 80th minute, however, and the teams went scoreless the rest of the match. Freshman Bree Bezdek scored in the 62nd minute and junior Brooke Rittmann scored in the 69th for the Falcons.
Junior Alex Kahalley started in goal Friday and sophomore Jennifer Hiddink on Sunday. Both recorded eight saves in each match.
In addition to the games, the Falcons participated in a Special Olympics clinic on Saturday at Westminster City Park in Westminster. The Falcons had the honor of introducing soccer to many young athletes at the clinic. Photos of the clinic are up on the USAFA women's soccer facebook page (USAFA Women's Soccer Facebook).
