
Air Force Cross Country Announces 2016 Schedule

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. -- The Air Force cross country team announced its 10-meet schedule for the upcoming season this afternoon (Aug. 8). The Falcons, under the direction of third-year head coach Ryan Cole, will take part in seven regular-season competitions, as they prepare for the conference, regional and national championship meets.

Air Force opens the 2016 campaign on Friday, Sept. 2, when they travel to Fort Collins, Colo., for the CSU Invitational. The Falcons will then travel to Lincoln, Neb., on Saturday, Sept. 17, for the 27th-annual Woody Greeno Invitational, before part of the squad closes out the opening month of the season at the 61st-annual Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind., on Friday, Sept. 30.
The Falcons open the second month of the season in Boulder, Colo., as the team competes at the 30th-annual Rocky Mountain Shootout on Saturday, Oct. 1. Air Force continues action at the Tiger Open in Hays, Kan., on Saturday, Oct. 8, before select members travel to Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday, Oct. 15, for the Pre-National Invitational. The Falcons close out the regular season hosting the Air Force Open -- the program's first home meet since 2008 -- in Monument on Saturday, Oct. 22.
The championship season begins for Air Force on Friday, Oct. 28, when the squad travels to Boise, Idaho, for the 2016 Mountain West Championships. The Falcons will then head to Logan, Utah, for the NCAA Mountain Regional on Friday, Nov. 11, while the top teams and individuals from that meet will advance to the NCAA DI Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday, Nov. 19.
