Air Power 1000 Campaign
U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- Energized by the popularity of the Air Power Legacy Series helmet that the Air Force football team wore in the win over Georgia State on Sept. 10, the Falcon Pride Club will launch the "Air Power 1,000" campaign. Due to popular demand, Falcon fans will have the opportunity to purchase one of the Air Power Legacy Series helmets, already tabbed by ESPN College GameDay as the Best Helmet of the Year. The campaign will be limited to the first 1,000 helmets.
The Air Power Legacy Series was developed by the Air Force Academy athletic department to promote and celebrate the history of the Air Force's aircraft. The series began this year with the football team wearing an alternate uniform for the Georgia State game on Sept. 10 in Falcon Stadium to celebrate the Tiger Shark teeth nose-art which has been represented on multiple Air Force aircraft dating back to World War II. During the WWII era, fight plane pilots were called "Flying Tigers" and were part of the U.S. Army Air Corps, which later became the Air Force. The helmets worn for the game featured a shark-teeth design like those painted on the aircraft.
The campaign will launch to the public on Monday, Sept. 19th at 10:00 AM ET at Giving.FalconPrideClub.Com. The campaign will close Monday morning October 24th at 10:00 AM ET. All donations will benefit the Excellence Fund which supports all 27 intercollegiate sports within Air Force Athletics.
