Several members of the Air Force men's cross country team will travel to Lincoln, Neb., this Saturday (Sept. 17) for the 27th annual Woody Greeno/Dirksen Invitational. Action will get underway for the Falcons at 10:45 a.m. (CT), as the squad completes their first 8K course of the year.

MEET INFORMATION
The Woody Greeno/Dirksen Invitational, hosted jointly by the University of Nebraska and Nebraska Wesleyan University, will take place at Pioneers Park in southwest Lincoln (3201 S. Coddington). A total of 23 teams, including six squads from the Division I level, are scheduled to compete at the 27th-annual meet. The event officially kicks off with a women's 6K race at 10:00 a.m., while the men will follow with an 8K race at 10:45 a.m.
WHO TO WATCH...
Air Force will send 12 members of its men's team to Nebraska this weekend, including Jordan Armstrong, Jack Bluth, Anthony Bucci, Jason Engel, Adam Haynes, Andrew Milliron, Jimmy Shipley, Patrick Sullivan, Andrew Tankersley, Tim Ward, Conner Wilburn and Josh Wojciechowski.
AIR FORCE AT THE WOODY GREENO INVITATIONAL
The men have claimed the University team title of the Woody Greeno Invitational six times (2012, 2011, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2000), while sharing the title with Nebraska in 1999. Individually, Jim Walmsley captured back-to-back titles in 2010-11. The women have also captured a team title at the Woody Greeno Invitational, winning the 2012 meet to snap Nebraska's seven-year stretch of victories.
LAST YEAR AT NEBRASKA
Backed by five scoring runners within the top 13 of the Division I field, as the men finished second in the team standings at the 2015 Woody Greeno Invitational. Andrew Milliron was the Falcons' top finisher, clocking a time of 25:52.5 to place fifth in the University Division and 10th in the overall in the field of 233. Milliron, who deleted nearly two minutes off of his previous-best 8K time, earned MW Runner of the Week honors for that performance.
GILLESPIE, AIR FORCE WOMEN WIN CSU INVITATIONAL
Backed by a first-place individual finish from Carina Gillespie, the women won the Colorado State Invitational on Sept. 2, defeating second-ranked Colorado and conference teams from Colorado State and Wyoming. Gillespie clocked a career-best time of 17:33 to win the 93-runner event by two seconds, while pacing the Falcons' the five scoring runners to top 12 finishes in the Division I field. Jaci Smith finished fifth in the DI field (17:55), while Samantha Skold and Katie Burnham finished seventh (18:13) and 10th (18:28), respectively, and Lindy Long rounded out the scoring contingent in 12th (18:29).
MEN FINISH SECOND AT SEASON-OPENING MEET
With matching top-10 times of 15:16, Matt Dorsey, Andrew Johnston and Kyle Eller paced the men's team to a runner-up finish at the CSU Invitational on Sept. 2. The Falcons, who finished second only to fifth-ranked Colorado and collected victories over their conference counterparts from Colorado State and Wyoming, earned top-20 finishes from all five scoring runners. The lead trio placed seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively, in the Division I runner field, while Nathan Thomas (14th, 15:19) and Noah Riley (19th, 15:26) rounded out the Air Force scorers.
THE NEXT COURSE
Air Force is off from competition until the end of the month, when the squad splits for a pair of meets. Part of the team will travel to South Bend, Ind., for the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, Sept. 30, while the rest of the squad travels to Boulder, Colo., on Saturday, Oct. 1, for the annual Rocky Mountain Shootout.
