Falcons place sixth of 19 teams at CU Invitational

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force golf team fired a three-under-par 285 on the final day of the Mark Simpson Invitational to place sixth out of 19 teams, Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the Colorado National Golf Club in Erie, Colo. Air Force shot a three-round total of 861. Colorado won its own tournament for the fourth straight season by shooting a team score of 20-under, 844. Wyoming was second, followed by Utah, Campbell and Northern Colorado.
Air Force started the day in 10th place, but the final-round 285 was the third best score of any team in the tournament. In the final round, the team's consistency was on display as Brenden Bone shot 69, Tate Tatom shot 71, Sunwoo Choi shot 72 and Todd Millard shot 73.
Choi was Air Force's top finisher as he tied for fourth with a three-round total of 209 (seven-under). After shooting 69-68 on the first day, Choi shot an even-par 72 in the final round. Bone tied for 24th with a three-round total of 215 (one-under-par). After an opening round 76, Bone played the final 36 holes in five under par.
The Falcons are now off until Oct. 10-11 when they compete in the Paintbrush Invitational in Denver, Colo.
