
Falcons in eighth after first round at MW Championships

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Air Force golf team opened the first round of the Mountain West Conference Championships tied for eighth-place at the Omni Tucson National Golf Club, Friday, April 21, in Tucson, Ariz. Air Force spent much of the first round in the top five, but a challenging back nine slipped the Falcons into eighth place in the 11-team event. The Falcons shot a team score of eight-over par (296). Boise State and San Diego State are tied for first at nine-under par (279).
Senior Sunwoo Choi and freshman Joshua Wu each shot an even-par 72 and are tied for 19th place. Andy Germann shot a one-over 73. UNLV's Jon Oda leads all players after shooting a six-under 66 in the opening round.
The second round begins at 7:00 am PT, Saturday, April 22, at the Catalina Course at Omni National Golf Club. The final round is Sunday, April 23.
