Air Force falls to Tennessee in season opener

Air Force dropped its 2017 spring season opener, 6-1, at Tennessee Saturday morning, Jan. 21, at the Goodfriend Tennis Center in Knoxville, Tenn.

Tennessee opened the match by winning the doubles point. The Vols picked up the win at No. 3 singles with Kim Kermet and Ariadna Riley beating Elizabeth Barnickel and Jocelle Rudigo, 6-1. They clinched the point at No. 1 doubles with a 6-3 win by Brittany Lindl and Eve Repic over Chloe Forlini and TJ Fumagalli.

Tennessee won five of six singles matches to secure the victory. Air Force's lone win came at No. 4 singles with Fumagalli defeating Eve Repic, 6-1, 6-4. The Falcons fall to 0-1 this season while Tennessee improves to 1-0. Air Force returns to action tomorrow against Tennessee-Chattanooga at 10 a.m.
