DENVER - Air Force's Tucker Bone and San José State's David Heredia have been named Western Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for Oct. 16 - 22.
Bone, a junior midfielder from Granite Bay, Calif. (Jesuit HS), totaled seven points on the week as the 16th-ranked Falcons closed out their home schedule with wins over UNLV and Grand Canyon. Against UNLV, he assisted on the first goal in the 19th minute and then scored an insurance goal right after halftime as Air Force earned the 3-0 win in a rematch of last year's tournament championship match. On Sunday against Grand Canyon, he scored the equalizing goal in the 34th minute before assisting on the Falcons' next two goals in a 3-1 win over the visiting Lopes.
Heredia, a junior goalkeeper from San Jose, Calif. (Andrew Hill HS/UC Riverside), collected a pair of shutouts on the road to help vault the Spartans into the tournament picture with wins at UIW and UT Rio Grande Valley. In a 2-0 win at UIW on Friday, he made a pair of saves off 12 total Cardinal shots to earn the clean sheet. He followed that up with three saves on 10 total shots in a 1-0 win at UT Rio Grande Valley.
