Air Force senior kicker Luke Strebel has been named Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in Air Force's 45-42 win at Nevada last week. Strebel kicked the game-winning field goal as time expired to propel the Falcons to the win. Earlier in the game he became the Air Force career leader for extra points made with 117, breaking the mark of 111 by Sean Pavlich from 1980-83.
Strebel, who is on the 2017 Lou Groza Collegiate Placekicker Award Watch List, handles all the Air Force kicking duties -- kickoffs, field goals and PATs. He has hit six of eight field goals and all 29 PATs this season. He has scored 231 points in his career which ranks fourth in school history overall and tied for second among kickers. He kicked a field goal and added a PAT vs. #22 San Diego State to break into the top 10 all-time at Air Force. Strebel needs seven points to become the highest scoring kicker in school history.
