Air Force falls to Michigan State

Michigan State defeated Air Force, 6-1, Friday night in a non-conference men's tennis match at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility in East Lansing, Mich.

The Spartans opened the match by winning the doubles point. Michael Dube and Jasper Koenen of Michigan State beat Max Olson and Tadhg Collins, 7-5, at No. 1 while Billy Shisler and Doug Francken beat Lucas Fumagalli and Luke Sanderson, 6-2, at No. 2. Air Force won the No. 3 doubles match when Isaac Perez and Mack Galvin beat Brett Forman and Alexander Kim, 6-1.

Koenen defeated Perez, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3 to open singles play and give the Spartans a 2-0 match lead. Michigan State extended the lead to 3-0 with a win at No. 5 singles by Ivan Rakic over Collins, 6-4, 6-2. Michigan State clinched the match with a win at No. 1 by Brett Forman over Fumagalli, 6-4, 6-2. Galvin picked up the lone singles win for Air Force, beating Shisler, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 6. The Spartans closed it out with wins at No. 2 and No. 4. Dube beat Olson, 7-6, 6-4, at No. 2 while Alexander Kim beat Sanderson, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 at No. 4.

Air Force falls to 3-4 overall with the loss. Michigan State improves to 6-3. The Falcons play Army West Point Sunday at 10 a.m. in East Lansing to close out the weekend.
