
Air Force Downed By #4 LSU Sunday

Air Force baseball (2-2) dropped a 10-3 contest at #4 LSU (3-0) in front of a crowd of 11,129 Sunday afternoon at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. Senior Tyler Jones led Air Force with a home run.
After the Falcons took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning, the Tigers responded with six runs in the bottom-half of the inning to take control of the game.
The Falcons made it a 6-3 game on Jones' solo home run in the sixth. LSU responded with a run in the bottom of the inning, one more in the seventh and two in the eighth.
LSU had 11 hits in the game. Shortstop Kramer Robertson had three hits and Greg Deichmann and Josh Smith both homered for the Tigers.
Eric Walker (1-0) earned the win in the start for LSU. Walker allowed two runs off two hits in five innings, striking out six.
Air Force had four hits in the game. Bradley Haslam, Nic Ready and Tyler Zabojnik also had hits for the Falcons. Jones scored two of the team's three runs.
Senior Jacob DeVries (0-1) took the loss for the Falcons. The left hander pitched four innings in the start. The Falcons used six relievers on the day. Jake Gilbert, Will Jones, Michael Rieker, Jeff Gerlica, Shawn Kelley and Tucker Jacobs pitched in relief. Jones, Gerlica and Kelley made their collegiate debuts.
Air Force returns to action against Navy in a three-game weekend series, Feb. 24-26, at Historic Grainger Stadium in Kinston, N.C.
