Air Force football 2017 schedule released by Mountain West

The 2017 Air Force football schedule was released today by the Mountain West Conference. The Falcons will play six home and six away games this season.
Air Force opens the season Saturday, Sept. 2, with Virginia Military Institute (VMI) in Falcon Stadium on Parent’s Weekend. The team has an open week Sept. 9 before traveling to Michigan to take on the Wolverines in the “Big House” Sept. 16.
The Falcons open conference play with two-time defending champion San Diego State coming to Falcon Stadium Sept. 23. The team plays at New Mexico the following week, Sept. 30, before opening service academy play at Navy, Oct. 7. Air Force returns to conference play the next week with UNLV coming to Falcon Stadium Oct. 14. The team then plays back-to-back conference road games at Nevada, Oct. 21, and at Colorado State, Oct. 28.
Army West Point comes to Falcon Stadium, Nov. 4, to conclude service academy play. The Falcons then close the season with three straight conference games starting with Wyoming in Falcon Stadium, Nov. 11, at Boise State, Nov. 18, and by hosting Utah State on Saturday, Nov. 25, in Falcon Stadium to close out the regular season.
Today’s release represents the first phase in the 2017 schedule process. Mountain West national television partners CBS Sports Network and ESPN will now initiate a selection procedure which will include the shifting of particular games to Thursdays and Fridays. That will be followed by the identification of network outlets and kick times, along with picks for regional partner ROOT Sports and the Mountain West Network on Campus Insiders.
The 2017 MW football membership includes Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, New Mexico, Utah State and Wyoming in the Mountain Division and Fresno State, Hawai’i Nevada, San Diego State, San Jose State and UNLV in the West Division.
