Air Force downs Portland State

Air Force defeated Portland State, 7-0, Saturday afternoon in a non-conference women's tennis match at the Cadet Gymnasium Tennis Courts at the Academy.
Freshman TJ Fumagalli set a pair of Air Force singles season records to lead the Falcons to the win. Fumagalli and doubles partner Elizabeth Barnickel rolled to a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles to improve to 19-0 this spring. Fumagalli defeated Tracy Dong, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles to set a single-season record for singles wins with 34. She is 34-3 overall in singles and combined with her 36 doubles wins has 70 overall match wins this season which is an Academy record.
Air Force won the doubles point with a win at No. 2 from Chloe Forlini and Jocelle Rudico, 6-2, combined with the win at No. 1. The Falcons swept the singles matches. Forlini was a 6-0, 7-6 winner at No. 1, while Barnickel won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3. Lily Forlini was a 6-3, 6-4 winner at No. 4, Rudico a 6-3 6-3 winner at No. 5 and Meredith Laskey a 6-1,6 -1 winner at No. 6.
The Falcons improve to 16-7 overall this season. Air Force closes a three-match home stand tomorrow, returning to conference action vs. Utah State at Noon.
