Air Force Athletics Host Senior Send-Off

Air Force athletics hosted its annual Senior Send Off this week. The department hosts the senior class each year to honor them before they graduate. The Mountain West Network's Jesse Kurtz was the emcee for the event.
The seniors were honored with a senior tribute video and slide show. Senior women's tennis player Chloe Forlini shared her cadet-athlete experience over four years. Forlini is the winningest tennis player in Academy history and a two-time all-Mountain West selection for singles. She is headed to medical school at the University of Maryland next year. The seniors were also presented with their AF letter award.
Director of Athletics Jim Knowlton addressed the class and shared insight on expectations for them as second lieutenants in the United States Air Force, as well as highlighting some of their accomplishments. This year's class was instrumental in the Academy winning four conference championships (men's swimming, hockey, lacrosse and men's outdoor track). Seniors Genevieve Miller (women's swimming) and Tim Wang (men's gymnastics) were named athletes of the year in their conferences.
In addition, the senior class has helped Air Force to its best Learfield Director's Cup results ever. The Falcons are currently 47th in the standings among 245 teams that have earned points. Air Force is first in the Mountain West and among the service academies with 322 points. Air Force has also produced 33 All-Americans this season and has a winning record in head-to-head competition against Army and Navy. The Falcons are 15-9 overall, including an 8-5 mark vs. Army and 7-4 slate vs. Navy.
The seniors will conclude their four years at the Academy with graduation Wednesday, May 24, in Falcon Stadium. The athletes from the class of 2017 follow:
