U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force golf team opened the 2017-18 season by shooting a two-over par 290 and is in eighth place after the first round of the 49th annual Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, Friday, Sept. 8, on the Eisenhower Blue Course at the Air Force Academy.
Colorado State leads the 19-team field with a six-under par 282. Colorado and Wyoming are tied for second at 284.
Four individuals, Utah State's Andy Hess, Northern Colorado's Andrew Romano, Wyoming's John Murdock and Colorado's Yannik Paul are all tied at the top of the leaderboard after carding a five-under 67.
Air Force senior Dane Hankamer is the top Falcon, tied for seventh with a two-under 70. Tate Tatom and Bryan Falconello each shot 72 and are tied for 24th. Air Force senior Todd Millard, playing as an individual, also shot 72.
The second round of the 49th annual Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational will begin at 7:30 am on Saturday, Sept. 9. The final round will start at 7:30 am MT on Sunday, Sept. 10.
