
Falcons come from behind for 20-14 win over Fresno Pacific

Campbell Harris and Edward Smet each scored four in final home game of season
U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Edward Smet and Campbell Harris each scored four goals to lead Air Force to a 20-14 win over Fresno Pacific, Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Academy's Cadet Natatorium.
Fresno Pacific (5-17, 0-6 WWPA) took an early lead, scoring five of the first seven goals of the game for a 5-2 lead entering the second quarter. Senior Justin Harrison scored for the Falcons and then Jacob Fairchild answered for the Sunbirds as FPU led 6-3 with 7:06 left in the second. Air Force then scored four straight to take a 7-6 lead as Harris scored two and Smet and Michael Miller scored one each. FPU's Lazar Raca scored with 48 seconds left to tie the game at 7-7 at the half.
The Falcons broke the game open with seven goals in the third quarter. Smet scored first, but the Sunbirds answered with two power-play goals for a 9-8 lead with 6:40 left in the third. Smet scored on a five-meter shot with 4:28 left and then Neil Reynolds scored from Reagan Pittman at 4:02 and 3:24 for an 11-9 advantage. After a Sunbird goal, Ryan Dorris, Miller and Henry Yavitt scored for 14-10 lead at the end of the third. a
The teams traded goals early in the fourth but then the Falcons scored two, both power-play goals by Harris with assists to Miller for a 17-11 lead. The Sunbirds battled back with three straight goals to cut the Falcon lead to 17-14. Three freshmen scored the final three goals of the game as Samuel Fuller scored at 3:22, Kazu Gavin at 2:24 and Cory Tanis with 52 seconds left.
Miller won all four sprints and sophomore James Burke made seven saves.
Air Force (7-14 overall, 3-3 WWPA) plays its final three regular-season games on the road. The Falcons are at Cal Baptist (Nov. 3), Claremont (Nov. 4) and Chapman (Nov. 10), before travelling to Fresno for the WWPA Championships, Nov. 16-18.
