Josh Turner Earns Victory at NCBA Invitational

RENO, Nev. – Senior Josh Turner earned a 147-pound victory on Saturday, Nov. 13, as the Air Force boxing team wrapped up competition at a National Collegiate Boxing Association (NCBA) Invitational in Reno. Turner, one of nine Falcons to compete in Nevada, captured the team's Boxer of the Week award after defeating Cincinnati's Nathan Todd.

Junior Sean Chieves also faced a contender from Cincinnati, as he dropped a 140-pound decision to Jacob Maslyk. The Falcons' junior boxed in one of three 140-pound bouts, as sophomore Justin Couty (vs Jacob Lang of UC Davis) and junior Ife Onigbanjo (vs Dillon Maguin of Nevada) also suffered losses in that weight division. Freshman Lawrence Barrett (118 pounds, vs Phillip Garcia of UC Davis), sophomore William Winstead IV (142-pounds, vs Davis Ault of Nevada), junior Cenada Clifton-Smith (172 pounds, vs Nate Strother of Nevada), freshman Fabian Manzo (182 pounds, vs Danny Rich of Nevada) and junior Micah Mackaly (heavyweight, vs Alex Maxcerenas of UNLV) also competed in Reno on Saturday night.

The Falcons return to action on Monday, Nov. 19, when select boxers travel to New York City for the annual Arthur Mercante Invitational.
