Men's Swimming & Diving Falls to Grand Canyon in Conference Dual
11/3/2018 2:22:00 PM | Men's Swimming and Diving
Sophomore Peter Lochmaier won two of the events on the day
USAFA, Colo. – The Air Force Academy men's swimming and diving team was defeated in day two of dual action against Western Athletic Conference foe Grand Canyon, 143-100, Saturday afternoon, Nov. 3, at Cadet Natatorium. The two teams tied in a dual yesterday evening.
The Falcons had plenty of depth on the afternoon, as they finished runner-up in eight of the 13 events, but it was the Antelopes' tough top swimmers and divers, who ended up winning 11 of the events to make the difference.
Sophomore Peter Lochmaier led the Falcons once again, with two more event wins after winning two yesterday. The Tennessee native claimed a win in both distance free events, taking gold in the 1,000 free with a 10.01.35, while also taking first in the 500 with a 4:41.55. Right behind him in both events was freshman Adam Grimm, who took second in both the 1,000 and 500 free as well.
Air Force now takes a brief interlude from competition before returning for the Art Adamson Invitational in College Station, Texas. The three day meet hosted by Texas A&M will run from Wednesday-Friday, Nov. 14-16.
