
Men's Swimming Completes Day One at Art Adamson Invite

The Falcons are in fourth place in the six team field
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Air Force Academy men's swimming team concluded day one of the Art Adamson Invitational Wednesday evening, Nov. 14, at the Rec Center Natatorium on the campus of Texas A&M University. The Falcons are currently in fourth place after five events, totaling 114 points.
The host Aggies lead the six team field with 503 points, while LSU and Hawaii are ahead of the Falcons as well with 197 and 159 points, respectively. The Blue and Silver are ahead of both Incarnate Word (61) and SMU (50).
Air Force's highest individual finisher on the day came from sophomore Peter Lochmaier in the 500 free. The Signal Mountain, Tenn. native took sixth place in the 33-man field, clocking in with a time of 4:27.21. His prelim time was actually slightly faster, a 4:26.16. Meanwhile, freshman Adam Grimm also placed within the top-15, taking 12th.
In the first event of Session II, Air Force's 200 free relay team of junior Cole McAnany, and freshmen Andrew Limpert, David Gray, and Corey Shepard placed fifth out of 18 squads with a 1:22.23. The fifth place spot was the highest on the day for AF.
In the 50 free sprint, McAnany was the highest placer for Air Force, taking 11th overall with a 20.49. Shepard placed 15th himself with a 20.89. In the 200 IM, junior co-captain Zach Nelson was the top placer for Air Force, as he took seventh in the 'B' final, which was good for 15th in the event overall.
Finally in the last event of day one, the 400 medley relay, Air Force placed sixth after McAnany, Shepard, Nelson, and Lochmaier clocked in with a 3:17.69.
The Falcons return to the pool tomorrow, Nov. 15, for day two of the Art Adamson Invite. The prelims will begin at 9 a.m., while the finals of each event will take place starting at 5 p.m.
