Air Force Falls To Army West Point

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's basketball dropped a 66-61 contest to Army West Point in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Clune Arena. The Falcons were unable to hold on to a 17 point halftime lead in the tough setback.
Air Force held a 40-23 halftime lead before Army came storming back. The Black Knights forced 11 Falcon turnovers in the second half, while committing none. Army out-scored Air Force 23-3 in points off turnovers in the latter half.
Lavelle Scottie led Air Force with 17 points and 15 rebounds, recording his first-career double double. Scottie's 15 boards was a career-high and the most rebounds in a game at Air Force since Miguel Garcia pulled down 19 boards against San Diego State on Jan. 20, 2000.
Ryan Swan added 10 points and a team-high three assists for the Falcons. Caleb Morris added nine points and Sid Tomes seven.
Tommy Funk led Army with 14 points. Lonnie Grayson added 11 points and Alex King 10.
Army trailed the entire game until taking the lead at the 8:12 mark. The Falcons rallied back to take a one-point lead,61-60, on a jumper by Pervis Louder with 1:30 to play. The Black Knights were able to score the final six points to close out the game.
Air Force shot 43.8 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range. The Falcons struggled at the free-throw line, converting just 11 of 24 for a 45.8 percent rate.
Air Force is off from competition for the next two weeks due to finals. The Falcons return to action Dec. 22 at currently fifth-ranked Michigan.
