Boise State shoots past Air Force

Chris Sengfelder scored 17 points to lead four Broncos in double figures as Boise State beat Air Force, 76-52, Saturday afternoon in Taco Bell Arena in Boise, Idaho.
Justinian Jessup added 15 points, Zach Haney 11 and Chandler Hutchinson 11 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for Boise State, who improved to 14-1 at home this season. The Broncos hit 52.8 percent from the field, including 14-of-28 from three and out-rebounded Air Force, 35-25.
Air Force trailed 38-25 at the half and opened the second half with four straight points to cut the lead to nine, 38-29, just over a minute into the second half. The Broncos answered with three straight threes to key a 9-0 run and push the lead to 18 points, 47-29, with 13:55 left. Air Force was 0-7 with four turnovers during the run. The Falcons went 7:02 without scoring before Lavelle Scottie hit a short jumper with make it 47-31 with 11:52 left. Air Force was never able to get closer than 13 points the rest of the way, as Boise State went on to lead by as many 27 points, 69-42, with 4:32 left.
Scottie led the Falcons with 11 points. He has scored in double figures in six straight and 10 of the last 11 games. Freshman Keaton Van Soelen added 10 points, three rebounds and a career-best three assists. His double-figure scoring effort is his first in Mountain West play this season. Jonathan DeWane added eight points and a career-best four rebounds. Air Force shot just 38.5 percent from the field, including a 29.4 clip from three. Air Force had just eight assists and 10 turnovers.
Air Force falls to 10-15 overall and 4-9 in Mountain West play. Boise State improved to 21-6 overall and 11-4 in the conference. Air Force returns home to start a run of having four of its final five games at home with San Diego State Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Clune Arena.
