San Diego State shoots past Air Force

Jalen McDaniels scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead four players in double figures as San Diego State downed Air Force, 81-50, Saturday night in Viejas Arena in San Diego, Calif.
San Diego State hit seven of its first 11 shots, including its first five, to jump out to a 21-7 lead with 11:57 left in the first half. The Aztecs extended the lead to as many as 18 points, 29-11, before taking a 35-21 lead at the half. San Diego State was never seriously threatened in the second half and led by as many as 34 points.
The Aztecs hit 51.9 percent from the field, including 53.3 percent in the second half, and out-rebounded Air Force, 41-29. SDSU hit 42.3 percent from three on 11-26 shooting and had 15 assists and 10 blocked shots. Jeremy Hemsley added 14 points for SDSU while Devin Watson and Max Montona chipped in with 13 points each.
Air Force was led by Lavelle Scottie, who was the lone Falcon in double figures with 16 points. He hit 8-13 field goals and added five rebounds. Sid Tomes added eight points and a career-best four steals. Ryan Swan led the Falcons with seven rebounds. Air Force hit just 32.8 percent from the field, including a 6-27 clip from three. The Falcons assisted on 17 of 20 field goals.
Air Force falls to 8-13 overall and 2-7 in the conference. San Diego State improved to 13-8 overall and 5-5 in the Mountain West.
