
Air Force Downed Friday By #21 UNLV

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force baseball (6-11, 1-3 MW) was downed by #21 UNLV, 11-6, in Mountain West action Friday afternoon at Falcon Field. Centerfielder Drew Wiss led the Falcons with three hits and two runs scored.
UNLV (17-2, 4-0 MW) scored two runs in each of the first four innings, racking up 17 hits on the day. Starting pitcher Alan Strong (4-0) pitched 6.1 innings for the win, striking out seven.
Air Force had 13 hits on the day. Wiss went 3 for 4 with a double. Nic Ready went 2 for 3 with two walks. Tyler Zabojnik had two hits with a double. Colby Brown tripled and drove in two.
Falcon starting pitcher Tyler Mortenson (0-4) pitched four innings, striking out four. Nic Biancalana relieved Mortenson and allowed three unearned runs over five innings, striking out five.
Dillon Johnson and Kyle Isbel had four hits each for UNLV. Nick Rodriguez added two hits, including a home run, to go with three RBIs.
UNLV jumped ahead 6-0 early, before Air Force answered with two runs in the bottom of the third. After two more Rebels runs in the fourth, the Falcons scored a run in the bottom of the fourth to make it an 8-3 game.
The Rebels scored three runs in the top of the seventh. The Falcons scored two in the eighth and one in the ninth.
Game two of the three-game series is tomorrow. First pitch is slated for 1 pm MT.
