
Air Force Drops 7-2 Contest at Fresno State

Air Force baseball (19-22, 10-11 MW) dropped a 7-2 contest at Fresno State (25-16, 10-12 MW) in Mountain West action Friday night at Beiden Field at Bennett Stadium in Fresno, Calif.  The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Falcons.
Fresno State scored three runs in the first and built up a 6-0 lead before Air Force scored both of its run in the eighth inning.  Bulldogs starting pitcher Edgar Gonzalez (7-2) pitched 7.2 innings for the win.  
The Falcons were held to five hits on the night.  Center fielder Drew Wiss led the offense, going 2 for 4.  Nic Ready, Tyler Zabojnik and Jacob Booker added base hits.  Catcher Rob Dau went 0 for 4 on the night, snapping his 27-game hitting streak, which was tied for the third longest hit streak in the nation and tied for the longest active streak.
Tyler Mortenson (2-6) pitched 4.1 innings in the start.  Mortenson struck out four.  Joe Kincart relieved Mortenson and finished out with one run over the final 3.2 innings worked.
Fresno State had 10 hits.  Zach Ashford and Korby Batesole had two hits to lead the Bulldogs.
Fresno State plated three in the first, two in the fourth and one in the fifth to build its 6-0 lead.  
The Falcons scored two in the eighth.  Jacob Booker tripled to score Colby Brown for the first run and then came around to score on an RBI-ground out by Ryan Robb.
The Bulldogs scored a run in the bottom of the inning.
Game two of the three-game series is tomorrow.  First pitch is 6:05 pm PT.
