Den Tati-Mackaya, Levi Knox Claim NCBA Titles

WEST POINT, N.Y. -- Senior Den Tati-Mackaya and junior Levi Knox captured their first national titles this evening (April 7), as the Air Force boxing team wrapped up competition at the National Collegiate Boxing Association Championships in West Point, New York. Tati-Mackaya and Know, two of six Falcons to compete in the national finals, paced the men to a runner-up finish in the team standings.
Knox claimed his NCBA title after earning a 4-1 decision over Shippensburg's Canar Morrison in the 165-pound bout, while Tati-Mackaya capped his collegiate career with the 195-pound national title after decisioning North Carolina's Jake Beeson by a 4-1 score.
Sophomores RJ Leon and Austin Dreyer earned silver medals in their first NCBA Championship event, as Leon dropped a narrow 3-2 decision to Army West Point's Isiah Ortiz in the 119-pound final and Dreyer was lost a 5-0 contest to Army West Point's Egbezien Obiomon at 185 pounds.
The women's club team also accounted for a pair of runner-up finishes tonight at Ike Hall. Junior Laura Drapinski suffered a 5-0 loss to Penn State's Eliza Kuehner at 119 pounds, while sophomore Adrienne Yoder was decisioned (5-0) to Army West Point's Adaya Queen in the 139-pound championship.
Army West Point captured the team title for the ninth time in 11 years, while Air Force and Miami (Ohio) rounded out the top-three of the men's team standings.
