
Air Force Falls at UCCS, 8-5

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Air Force baseball (20-24) was downed 8-5 at UCCS (27-21) in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at Mountain Lion Park. Junior left fielder Daniel Jones led the Falcons with two doubles and two RBIs.
UCCS hit four home runs on the day, two by Zach Hall. The Mountain Lions broke up a tie ballgame on a solo home run by Matthew McDermott in the seventh inning.
The Falcons had eight hits on the day. Rob Dau and Colby Brown joined Jones with two hits each. Dau hit two doubles and Brown hit one.
Shawn Kelley (1-2) took the loss in relief, striking out three in 2.1 innings. Starting pitcher Joe Kincart pitched four innings, striking out three. Josh Leaser also worked 1.2 innings in relief, striking out four.
UCCS scored a run in the third to take an early lead. The Falcons scored three in the top of the fourth to go up 3-1. The Mountain Lions scored two in the bottom of the inning to tie the game up.
UCCS went back up in the fifth on a two-run homer by Hall. The Falcons tied it up in the top of the sixth on a two-run double by Jones off the hitters eyer in center field.
McDermott then homered in the seventh to put the Mountain Lions up. Hall hit a two-run homer in the eighth for insurance runs.
Air Force returns to action Friday, hosting Chicago State in a three-game weekend series.
