Falcons drop two at Triton Invitational

Air Force is 1-3 overall this season
LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Air Force water polo team dropped a pair of games at the annual Triton Invitational, Sunday, Sept. 2, in La Jolla, Calif.
In the first game of the day, 12th-ranked UC San Diego defeated the Falcons, 16-8. Air Force got on the board first as Luke Andres scored from Edward Smet at 4:46 of the first quarter. Two late goals by the Tritons gave the home team a 2-1 lead at the end of the first. The Tritons outscored the Falcons, 5-1, in the second quarter for a 7-2 lead at the half. Ryan Dorris scored AF's only goal in the quarter. James Daugherty, Andres and Reagan Pittman scored for the Falcons in the
third quarter, but AF trailed 13-5 entering the fourth. Each team scored three goals in the third as Smet, Justin Harrison and Owen Sedej scored for Air Force. Sophomore goalie James Burke started and played the first three quarters, collecting four saves. Freshman Anthony Tolbert played the fourth quarter.
In the final game of the tournament, Loyola Marymount defeated Air Force, 12-5. The teams traded goals in the first quarter as Ryan Dorris and Mike Miller scored for the Falcons. Campbell Harris scored in the second quarter and Sam Fuller scored in the third, but the Falcons were out-scored 7-2 during those two periods. Jack Alexander scored for the Falcons in the fourth.
Air Force (1-3) travels to Princeton, N.J., for the annual Princeton Tournament, Sept. 8-9.
