Wrestling Concludes Time at Southern Scuffle

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Air Force Academy wrestling team concluded its time at the 2019 Southern Scuffle Wednesday morning, Jan. 2, inside McKenzie Arena on the campus of Tennessee-Chattanooga. The Falcons had three grapplers in action on day two, but all three were eliminated one win shy of a placement.

Freshman Sidney Flores, and seniors John Twomey and Alex Mossing all entered today in the vaunted "bloodround" with a chance to win and finish in the top eight of their respective weight classes. Despite some close matches, including a sudden victory defeat for Twomey, all three were felled in their matches and finished just outside the top eight.

As a team over the two-day event, Air Force had 19 team wins, and totaled 24.5 points, to finish tied for 18th in the 23-team field.

The Falcons will return to the mats next Saturday, Jan. 12, for the 29th Annual Borah Duals in Gunnison, Colo. Air Force will face Otero Junior College, Simon Fraser, and host Western Colorado throughout the day.
