Air Force Posts 4-2 Record at WAC Main Event

Levi Knox was named the Most Outstanding Boxer of the Tournament.
SEATTLE, Wash. – Backed by a perfect night of competition on Saturday (Jan. 26), the Air Force boxing team posted a 4-2 weekend record at the WAC Main Event in Seattle. Senior Levi Knox, who earned the 170-pound title in the squad's final contest of the Washington Athletic Club event, was named the Most Outstanding Boxer of the Tournament.
Knox, who earned the title at 170 pounds with a victory over Nevada's Nate Strother, capped a perfect 3-0 night for the Falcons on Saturday. Juniors RJ Leon and Sean Chieves also claimed tournament titles during the second night of action, as Leon defeated UC Davis's Philip Garcia in a 119-pound bout and Chieves earned the 140-pound title over Cincinnati's Joe Carli.
Sophomore William Winstead IV rounded out the Falcons' list of event winners, as he earned a 147-pound victory over Yomar Ibarra of UCLA on Friday night. Two other Falcons also competed during the opening night, with senior Josh Turner also competing at 147 pounds. Turner dropped his bout to Cincinnati's Nathan Todd and junior Devon Smith suffered a 160-pound loss to Washington's Abdiraham Omar.
Air Force travels to Reno, Nev., next Friday (Feb. 1) to compete in the West Coast Showdown.
