Air Force Falls At Colorado State
FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Air Force men's basketball (5-10, 0-3) dropped a 87-64 contest at Colorado State (6-10, 1-2) Tuesday night in Mountain West action at Moby Arena. Junior Lavelle Scottie tied a season-high with 20 points to lead the Falcons.
A trio of double-digit scoring runs allowed Colorado State to run away with the win.
The Falcons jumped out to an 8-4 lead early, but a 10-0 run put CSU ahead 14-8. The Rams did not trail the rest of the way, building to a 44-32 halftime lead.
The Falcons opened the second half by making 5 of 6 to get it down to an eight point game. Colorado State then had 10-0 and 11-0 runs to pull away.
The duo of Nico Carvacho and Kendle Moore combined for 50 points for CSU. Carvacho scored 27 and pulled down nine boards. Moore scored 23 and dished out five assists.
The Falcons shot well from the field, connecting in 51.9 percent of their shots. Air Force had a 11-27 disadvantage in points off turnovers however and allowed the Rams to shoot 56.5 percent from the field.
Scottie went 8 of 12 from the field and hit a pair of three's. The junior reached double figures in scoring for the ninth straight game. Junior Ryan Swan returned from missing the Utah State game with an injury, adding 10 points and a team-high six rebounds.
Freshman AJ Walker scored eight points, going 3 of 6 from the field. Sophomore Keaton Van Soelen added seven points and two rebounds.
Senior Pervis Louder was the top scorer off the bench with five points. Sophomore Chris Joyce scored four points and had a team-high two assists.
Air Force returns to action Saturday, Jan. 12 hosting San Diego State. Tip time at Clune Arena is 2 pm MT. The game will be televised by ESPN3.
