
Air Force Set to Run at UCCS Open on Saturday

The Falcons will race at Monument Valley Park on Saturday, beginning at 9:00 a.m. (MT).
The Air Force cross country team remains close to home this weekend, when several of its members head to Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs for the UCCS Open on Saturday, Oct. 12. The men's 8K will kick off the morning at 9:00 a.m. (MT), while the women's 5K will follow 45 minutes later.
MEET INFORMATION
The UCCS Open will take place at Monument Valley Park near downtown Colorado Springs. The course is located in the north section of the park, with the start and finish areas approximately 50 feet from Culebra Street. Parking is available in a gravel lot at the end of Fontanero and along the surrounding side streets.
WHO TO WATCH
A total of 20 men and four women will compete at the UCCS Open.
PARTICIPATING TEAMS
A total of 12 schools are scheduled to compete at the UCCS Open, including several squads ranked among the Top-30 of their respective Divisions. The field includes Adams State, which has the top-ranked women's squad and the No. 2 men's squad in Division II, Air Force (men RV, women 21st in DI), Colorado State (men RV in DI), Regis, Trinidad State Junior College (men 6th in NJCAA DI), UCCS (men 15th, women 16th in DII) and Western Colorado (men fifth, women sixth in DII), as well as men's teams from Colorado College, Colorado Mountain College, Fort Lewis and Wyoming (men 30th in DI).
WOMEN RANKED NO. 21 IN LATEST USTFCCCA POLL; MEN RECEIVING VOTES
The women moved to No. 21 in the Oct 8 edition of the USTFCCCA Division I Women's National Coaches Poll after having a week off from competition. It is the second-highest ranking ever for the women, who checked in at No. 20 in the previous poll last week to equal its highest placement (Week 7, 2016). The men continued to receive votes in this week's poll – marking the 21st-straight week that they have earned a mention in the national conversation.
THE NEXT COURSE
Air Force returns to action next week, when select runners head to Madison, Wis., for the annual Nuttycombe Invitational at Zimmer Championship Course on Friday, Oct. 18.
