Falcons Complete Day Two At ITA Mountain Regional

Air Force men's tennis completed day two action Thursday at the 2019 ITA Mountain Regional Championships, hosted by the University of Denver. The Falcons earned nine total wins on day two action, with four singles players advancing, in addition to a doubles team.

Senior Mack Galvin won his round of 32 match over #16 Eban Straker-meads of Northern Arizona 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the round of 16. Junior Paul Hendrix fell to #6 Kyryll Kryvchun of Boise State 6-1, 1-6, 6-1 in Air Force's other round of 32 singles match.

In consolation singles, Air Force advance three to the round of 16. Sophomore Jordan Azuma and freshman Jonathan Mascagni won both of their matches to move on. Azuma rallied back in both matches to down Daniel Krulig of Denver 1-6, 7-6 (4), 10-4 and Michiel Van Schoor of Weber State 5-7, 6-4, 13-11. Mascagni downed Marcos Zelver of Montana State 1-6, 7-6 (4), 10-4 and Fynn Lohse of Idaho State 7-5, 6-2. Freshman Morgan Ihrig had a first round bye in the consolation bracket and earned a win over Christopher Steele of Northern Arizona 6-2, 7-6 (4).

In doubles play, the duo of #5 Paul Hendrix and Patrick Sklenka defeated Drew Brown/Nejc Sitar of Montana State 8-4 to advance. The group of Azuma and Denali Kitayama fell to #16 Mathia Gavelin/Azat Hankuliyev of Utah 8-5.

The Falcons return to action in day three of competition tomorrow, Friday.
